All it takes is a tiny pinhole in your freezer door seal to cause warm, humid air to leak through into the inside compartment. When this happens, the freezer tries to create more cold air to balance out the temperature imbalance. At the same time, the evaporator coils start to frost over faster than they normally would. Be certain that your freezer door gasket has a proper, tight seal - place a paper bill on the seal, close the door and check that the bill does not easily pull out. A weak or damaged seal needs to be replaced.
